I love this piece, Judy, not just the beautiful writing but the spirit with which you imbued your essay. Thank you for this.

Bonjour/Hi Judy Goldstein:

As a reader, it was a relief to learn at the end of the column that, thank G-d, all is well.

As for the talismans that float your boat... consider maybe it was also your bubbie 'looking out for you', the mezuzah she gave you not withstanding, that assured a good outcome from that mammo.

I like to believe my late bubbie is 'influential' in ways a mere mortal cannot be.

Judy, it’s such a rich piece, shimmering with images. I think my favourite line is ‘only I could be unhinged that day’. Thank you!

Thank you, Judy, for this wonderful piece, particularly this image: "My mother cast her spiritual net more widely. If anyone in our family became seriously ill, she visited all the religious institutions she could, regardless of the denomination."

Great piece Judy. A reminder that hope is what we need in troubled times.

We may never know if our superstitious or spiritual or any habits or rituals “work” yet if they aren’t practiced, I sense a lost connection to those who came before and showed us how. This so made me smile thinking of my, all z”l - of blessed memory - those who came before. Women and men I feel are my guardians are there protecting me as long as I do as they did.
