I appreciate your comment, Mary Anne. You’re bang on about the gumption it takes to “turn things around.”

Pat this is a wonderful capture of the joy of grandparenting. We are in the 6 week to 6 year old stage and are their lives at this moment. They treasure time with us and follow our rules. I know it won't always be so and that as they age friends and sports will take a part of them away but the foundation we have laid is epic. I think that 5 minute video is worth a LOT of money to capture those special moments. Bernie

Bernie, I’m pleased that you enjoyed my essay. You are smart to recognize how fleeting your time with your grandchildren is. On the rare occasions my dispersed grandchildren are together, one suggests “Let’s watch our Harry Potter movie!” Afterwards they agree “That’s the best we ever did.” The previous year they had made a silent trailer for “Little Red Riding Hood.”

My grandsons added so much to my life. We lived next door to them for about nine years and the older one lived with us when he went to college. It was such a gift. Recently, I have been given another gift - a great-granddaughter. She is a joy beyond belief.
